Joe Abercrombie hat es in Stuttgart und anderswo schon angedeutet und nun ist es wohl amtlich: aktuell arbeitet er an einer Sammlung von Kurzgeschichten (Sharp Ends), die alle in der First-Law-Fantasywelt (dort wo alle Klingenromane von Joe angesiedelt sind) spielen werden. Hauptpersonen sind die Charaktere, die wir bereits aus Joes veröffentlichten Büchern kennen und lieben. Logan Neunfinger, Glokta, Jezal und die Söldnerin Monza Murcatto (aus Racheklingen) sind zum Beispiel mit von der Partie.
Die Sammlung trägt den Titel Sharp Ends und soll bereits im April 2016 in England in die Regale kommen. Joe fasst darin einige Geschichten zusammen, die er schon seit einiger Zeit in der Schublade hat und natürlich schreibt er auch noch einige weitere. Wer seinen Stil kennt, kann sich nun auf dieses Buch freuen. Ich bin überzeugt, wir werden nicht enttäuscht werden.
Joe schreibt: „“I’m very pleased that some widely scattered shorts are going to be brought together in one volume along with some new stories about old friends and enemies, filling in some blanks in the map of the First Law world and offering some different perspectives on key events. I hope readers will have as much fun revisiting some of these much-loved – and much-hated – characters as I have . . .”

Außerdem wurde inzwischen (19. Oktober 2015) bekannt, dass Sharp Ends erstmals eine umfassende Karte der Fantasywelt aller Klingenromane enthalten soll. Fans der Reihe haben also noch einen Grund mehr sich zu freuen.

Manche dieser Geschichten erschienen bereits in anderen Anthologien und haben dort zum Teil auch Preise eingeheimst. Manche der Geschichten sind bereits in Sondereditionen anderer Bücher von Joe erschienen und wiederum manche sind völlig neu und bisher unveröffentlicht.
Die Inhalte der Kurzgeschichten sind natürlich unterschiedlich. Wir werden neue, unbekannte Charaktere kennenlernen und auch alte Bekannte wiedersehen. Manche Geschichten ergänzen auch die bereits erschienenen Bücher mit zusätzlichen Informationen über vergangene Ereignisse.
